MLBB Women's Invitational 2024
The women's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports scene is about to shine
at the upcoming MLBB Women's Invitational (MWI) 2024, set to take place in
late July. As part of the Esports World Cup, this event will see 12 of the
world's top women's MLBB teams compete in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, vying for the
prestigious title of the world's strongest team and a share of the $500,000
prize pool, with the grand prize being $180,000.
Among these 12 championship hopefuls is Team Vitality Female, one of the two
teams representing Indonesia. Indonesia is widely regarded as one of the top
nations in MLBB, making Team Vitality Female a team to watch in this year's
MWI.
Team Vitality - The Back-To-Back MWI Champions
Team Vitality are undoubtedly the top favorites to clinch the championship
at the 2024 MWI, thanks to their acquisition of the roster that won the last
two tournaments. These players are not only highly skilled but also some of
the most experienced and prolific in the women's MLBB scene.
The story of Team Vitality begins back in August 2019 when Bigetron Esports,
one of Indonesia's largest esports organizations, formed a women's MLBB
division called Bigetron Era. One of the founding members, star roamer Vivi
“Vivian” Indrawaty, is still with the team today.
Over the next few years, other members joined Bigetron Era, including
jungler Viorelle “Vival” Valencia and the sisters Cindy Laurent “Cinny”
Siswanto, the team's mid laner, and Michelle “Chel” Siswanto, their gold
laner, who all came aboard in 2021. The most recent addition, EXP laner
Venny “Fumi Eko” Lim, joined in 2022.
During this time, Bigetron Era dominated women's tournaments in and around
Indonesia, notably winning Seasons 3 to 8 of the Woman Star League (WSL).
However, their crowning achievements are their back-to-back championships in
the first two MWIs in 2022 and 2023.
After another victory in WSL Season 8 in February, where they lost only two
games throughout the Group Stage and Playoffs, Bigetron Era now have a
chance to go for a three-peat in this year's MWI. This latest WSL
championship also earned them a spot in the MLBB Professional League (MPL)
Indonesia Season 10.
However, the Bigetron Era roster will be competing under a different banner
this time, as they were acquired by Team Vitality in May.
Vitality's decision to sign the Bigetron Era roster is a huge vote of
confidence in this veteran squad. The French-based organization, primarily
known for its success in FPS titles, chose to enter the MLBB scene with just
a women's team. Given the roster's extensive list of accolades, it’s easy to
see why Vitality made this strategic move.

Is Team Vitality Going To Make History In This MWI 2024
Despite their impressive track record, the burning question for Vitality
remains: Can they make history by securing a three-peat as MWI champions
this year? All indications suggest they can, and likely in a dominant
fashion, as they did in the previous two years.
In their journey to back-to-back MWI championships, the roster—then
playing under Bigetron Era—lost only one game: game three of the MWI 2022
grand finals. Outside of MWI, they continued to be nearly unbeatable.
Alongside their skill and experience, a significant advantage for Vitality
is their continuity. Only Fumi Eko wasn’t part of the team that won MWI
2022, but she was integral to their 2023 victory.
Every player on the Vitality roster is among the best in their positions,
if not the outright best, but the key player is Vivian. Often called the
“Mother of Indonesian Tanks,” Vivian is unmatched in her role. She forms
an impenetrable wall, allowing her teammates to dominate and push for
victory.
As the sole remaining member from the original Bigetron Era roster,
Vivian’s experience provides a solid foundation for her team. Her
dedication is unparalleled, often seen grinding MLBB on her livestreams
right after returning from classes.
Vivian’s commitment has paid off. She currently boasts an incredible
streak of 19 consecutive first-place finishes dating back to 2021,
including a gold medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games women's MLBB
event, numerous WSL titles, and back-to-back MWI championships. And she
seems poised to add a third MWI trophy to her collection.
If there's one significant challenger to Vitality’s reign in this year’s
MWI, it’s fellow Indonesian team Falcons Vega, previously known as GPX
Basreng. Notably, Vitality defeated this same team in the grand finals of
the last two MWIs.
Another potential contender is the Philippines’ Omega Empress, who
finished third in MWI 2023. However, Omega Empress only faced Vitality in
the Group Stage, where the Indonesian squad triumphed easily. As the
reigning two-time MWI champions, all teams view Vitality as the one to
beat.
However, dethroning the champions is easier said than done. So far, all
challengers have missed. The MWI 2024 championship is Vitality’s to lose.
