The M6 World Championship marks the sixth edition of the world’s biggest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament. Sixteen teams from around the globe will battle it out for a record-breaking prize pool of $1,000,000 — the largest in M-Series history. This year’s event also brings exciting new changes, including the introduction of the Swiss format and the long-awaited participation of China.
MLBB M6 World Championship 2024 Swiss Format
For the first time, Moonton Games is introducing the Swiss format to the
tournament, adding a fresh twist to the competition. In this format, teams
with the same win-loss record face each other, with the ultimate goal of
securing three wins to advance to the playoffs. However, three losses mean
elimination from the tournament.
The Swiss stage unfolds over five rounds, starting with randomly drawn
matchups in the opening round. Early matches are played as best-of-ones,
but as the stakes get higher, the format shifts to best-of-threes. Teams
with a 2-0 or 2-1 record will play best-of-three matches to qualify for
the playoffs, while those with 0-2 or 1-2 records must fight to avoid
elimination in do-or-die best-of-three games.
By the fifth and final round, teams with a 2-2 record face high-pressure
best-of-three matches to determine their playoff fate. Once in the
Knockout Stage, the remaining teams compete in a double-elimination
bracket. Most matches in this stage are best-of-five, except for the
upper bracket quarterfinals, which are best-of-three, and the grand
final, which raises the stakes with an epic best-of-seven showdown.
